AMBITION is not a dirty word, it’s just believing in yourself and your abilities.
- Reese Witherspoon, Glamor Women of the Year Awards 2015
Reese Witherspoon has been our idol since Tracy Flick ran the most legit political campaign in high school history and lost because a guy didn’t think she deserved it…
We fell in love with Elle Woods who was apologetically full of beauty (and brains) and we can’t get enough of Madeline Martha Mackenzie in Big Little Lies.
Reese has played some iconic characters who are badass and not afraid to show it. In interviews she drops truth bombs like she’s campaigning for women of the world to stand up and be counted; her speech at the Glamor Women of the Year Awards in 2015 is oft quoted in our office because it was a call to arms at the right time for the Moxie gang.
What’s even more inspiring is that over the years of reading scripts and finding female characters to be lacking in the moxie department, constantly asking men, “what do we do now?” she did what any moxie girl would do and answered: in 2014 she founded Pacific Standard and began making her own movies with the kind of characters she thought the world deserved to actualize.
