This post has been going viral on Facebook and for good reason… if you would ‘t say such harsh things to a stranger, why do we think it’s ok to say it to ourselves?

In competitive cheerleading, we focus a lot on image. It’s easy to find flaws in routines or judge another team’s choice of hairstyle or makeup. We challenge all of YOU to focus on the positive and tell another team that you like their standing tumbling choreography, or their dance was fierce–even that you like their shade of lipstick!

Designate Your Paparazzi!

We know that no one wants to miss the change to capture some memories of their favorite athletes. Plan ahead to designate one fan photographer per team so everyone else can watch live.

Use file sharing services like Dropbox or Google Drive to share the video in hi-resolution after the performance.

Take the Pledge!

Pledge to be enthusiastically devoted to your team during their performance! Clap your hands, stomp your feet, dance to the beat – let down your guard and have some fun! Athletes thrive on positive energy and spirit, and this is the time to create that for them! Be a good example of sportsmanship by encouraging other teams, too!

Share your commitment to Be A Fan on social media using the hashtag #BeAFan so we can share in your excitement (and who knows – entire programs who pledge to Be A Fan might be surprised with some fan swag)! Be sure to take a photo/screenshot of your Be A Fan certificate on your phone and bring it with you to events!

Workout Wednesday!

The most effective way to build endurance is through POWER BOOSTING exercises that focus on strength for stunting, power for tumbling, and cardio for stamina!

Be My Cheerleader!

Our parents are our biggest cheerleaders without a doubt! We couldn’t do this sport without them! But there are some things we wish our parents knew:

Flipping is hard. Like, flipping’ hard.

Getting over the fear of going upside down and landing on our hands (or head!) is hard! Some skills we’re going to get faster than others. Sometimes pushing us is good, but that’s what our coaches are for. Just love us when we walk out of the gym no matter what. 

Ice cream is always a good idea after a good OR bad tumbling day!
